Native Manchester review

I recently spent a night at Native Manchester, a popular aparthotel in the heart of the city. If you’re thinking about booking a stay, here’s everything you need to know plus my honest, unsponsored review based on first-hand experience.

About Native Manchester

Native Manchester is an aparthotel complex located in the heart of the city, offering a unique blend of industrial charm and contemporary comfort. Housed in a converted former warehouse known as Ducie Street Warehouse, it combines the character of Manchester’s industrial past with modern, design-led living spaces.

Where is Native Manchester?

Situated just a stone’s throw from Manchester Piccadilly Station, Native Manchester is perfectly positioned for exploring the city. The area is lively and creative, and the building itself buzzes with activity thanks to its mix of accommodation, dining, and cultural spaces.

Apartment-style accommodation

Native offers a range of apartment types, from studios to spacious two-bedroom units. Each apartment features high ceilings, large windows, and original warehouse details like exposed brickwork and steel beams. Interiors are sleek and comfortable, with fully equipped kitchens, washer-dryers, lounge areas and plush bedding. Ideal for both short stays and longer visits!

On-site facilities

The ground floor is home to Ducie Street Warehouse, a social hub featuring a restaurant, bar, lounge, and co-working space. The menu leans into seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, with options from brunch through to dinner. The bar also serves up a creative cocktail list and locally brewed craft beers.

Pet-friendly and lifestyle perks

Native Manchester is pet-friendly, which is a big plus for travelers with dogs. Guests can also enjoy pop-up markets, exhibitions and events hosted regularly at the warehouse.

Native Manchester unsponsored review

I booked a one-night stay in a Premium Studio at Native Manchester for £118.80 and felt it was excellent value for what I got.

The studio was incredibly spacious—more than enough room to relax and feel at home. It came fully equipped with everything I needed, including a dishwasher, washing machine, and even thoughtful extras like coffee, tea, sugar, salt, and a small bottle of milk waiting in the fridge. Laundry and dishwasher tablets were also provided, which is such a helpful touch.

The bathroom was spacious enough, with ample storage under the sink (which isn’t the case everywhere) and the shower was great.

The location couldn’t be better—just a short walk from the Northern Quarter and surrounded by plenty of great coffee shops. It’s ideal if you want to explore the city without relying on transport.

One feature I particularly appreciated was the code access to the room—no key or card to carry around, which is always a plus for me. Online check-in was smooth and easy. One thing to note: the pre-arrival email suggests using a locker for luggage storage if you arrive before your room is ready, but there’s actually free storage available at reception. Just ask, and they’ll happily take care of it.

While I really enjoyed my stay overall, there are a couple of things worth mentioning:

The studio I was in was located in a part of the building without elevator access, stairs only. That wasn’t a problem for me, but it could be an issue for anyone with mobility concerns or heavy luggage.

Natural light was limited in my room, mainly due to the layout of the building with a brick wall in the way, so if you’re someone who loves bright, sun-filled spaces, it’s something to keep in mind.

Lastly, my studio faced the road, and while it wasn’t particularly noisy during my stay, I can imagine it might get loud at times, especially on weekends or during events in the area. Light sleepers might want to request a room away from the street side.

Would I stay at Native Manchester again?

Yes, absolutely. It was a very comfortable stay with everything I needed, and I really loved the design and layout of the studio, equally stylish and practical.

Next time, I’d definitely enquire about different room types and try to get one in a part of the building with more natural light. But overall, Native Manchester made a great base for my time in the city and I’d gladly come back!
