Cadence™ honest review: sports hydration & nutrition for daily discipline
If you’re into endurance sports, you may have heard about Cadence. If not, here’s the low down on this fairly new hydration & nutrition brand, as well as my honest and unsponsored review of some of their products.
About Cadence™
Cadence is a performance hydration and nutrition brand founded in 2024 in New York by entrepreneurs Ross MacKay and George Heaton, backed by sports nutritionist Matt Jones.
The company's ethos centres on supporting “daily discipline” with a range of products that seamlessly fit into your routine, supporting both performance and recovery.
Whilst the product range is growing, Cadence’s primary focus remains hydration, with almost a ritualistic approach to it, treating it as a foundational daily practice.
Cadence™ product range
As of June 2025, this is Cadence’s hydration & nutrition range:
Core 500 Sachet – a zero‑calorie electrolyte blend delivering 500 mg sodium, 200 mg potassium, and 20 mg magnesium to support daily hydration and training recovery.
Race 500 Sachet – same electrolyte profile as Core 500, enhanced with 100 mg caffeine and 200 mg L‑theanine in a 1:2 ratio to aid energy, focus, and exercise performance.
Recover Sleep Sachet – lower-dose electrolytes (100 mg sodium, 100 mg potassium, 50 mg magnesium) combined with a sleep-promoting formulation that includes Ashwagandha, Valerian and Zinc.
Core 500 Electrolyte Drink Can – ready-to-drink, zero-calorie sparkling beverages containing approximately 500 mg sodium, 190 mg potassium, and 295 mg magnesium lactate, sweetened with stevia and free from sugar.
Core 40 Bar – a performance bar providing 40 g of carbohydrates from puffed rice, dates, and honey, fortified with electrolytes to support sustained endurance and energy before and during activity.

Honest Cadence™ review
My partner decided to place a Cadence order for us to try. The products were not gifted and this review is not sponsored in any way.
The one I absolutely love: the Core 500 Electrolyte Drink Can
Of all the Cadence products, this is my standout favourite. The citrus flavour in particular tastes just like lemonade - light, crisp and super refreshing. I often put a can in the fridge before heading out to a track session, and sipping on this ice-cold citrus drink once I’m back from my workout really hits the spot.
I also quite like the cola version, which my partner has been drinking as an alternative to his almost daily Pepsi Max can.
What sets the Core500 can apart is the fact that it’s fizzy, which isn’t typical for an electrolyte drink and makes it feel more like a treat than a supplement.
It’s an easy, convenient way to stay on top of hydration - especially useful when balancing training with work and needing to replenish electrolytes on the go, particularly in warm weather.

The one I really warmed up to: Core 40 Bar
I’ve tried both flavours of the Core 40 Bar and really enjoy them, with a preference for the PB&J, which is a less common flavour for an energy bar and brings something different to the mix.
The texture is just right: soft and chewy without being too heavy, which makes it easy to eat on the go. I’ve found it sits well on my stomach too, making it a great option when I’m heading out for a run early in the morning and don’t have time for a proper breakfast.
At first, I found that there was a slight aftertaste I wasn’t used to, possibly from the added magnesium and potassium, I’m not sure. But I really enjoyed the texture and it was a great pre-workout snack so I kept reaching for it and I guess the taste has grown on me, because I really enjoy these bars now!

The one I can’t quite get on board with: the Core 500 Sachet
The Core 500 electrolyte sachet isn’t a personal favourite for me, mainly because I don’t find the taste especially enjoyable so it’s not something I reach for.
To be fair, I wasn’t in the habit of using electrolytes regularly until I discovered Humantra and I haven’t found anything yet that comes close to dethroning it!
