If you've been looking for the best rooftop pools in Dubai, you've probably come across AURA Skypool.

Perched on the 50th floor of The Palm Tower, AURA is home to the world's highest 360° infinity pool, sitting 210 metres above sea level with uninterrupted views across Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, the Burj Al Arab, the Arabian Gulf and Dubai's skyline.

But AURA isn't just about having a swim with a nice view. Your experience can vary quite a lot depending on which time slot, view and seating you book, and those choices can make a noticeable difference to the overall experience.

There are plenty of infinity pools in Dubai, so what makes AURA different?

The obvious answer is the 360-degree view.

Rather than looking out in one direction from a traditional rooftop infinity pool, AURA wraps around the building, allowing you to see Dubai from all sides. The pool is surrounded by greenery and custom-designed daybeds and sofas, creating more of a luxury pool-club atmosphere than a hotel swimming pool.

And importantly, booking one view doesn't mean you're confined to that section of the pool. Your reserved view determines your allocated seating, but you're free to swim and walk around the entire 360-degree pool during your experience.

Where is AURA Skypool?

AURA is located at The Palm Tower on Palm Jumeirah, on the 50th floor.

The entrance is through The St. Regis Hotel, The Palm. If you're arriving by taxi, the venue recommends giving the driver St. Regis Hotel, The Palm as the destination. If you're coming from Palm Jumeirah Mall, you can access AURA through the St. Regis hotel mall entrance on the first floor, next to Al Ittihad Park and near Café Bateel.

If you're driving, AURA currently offers complimentary valet parking through the St. Regis hotel.

How much does AURA Skypool cost?

This is where things get a little more complicated because there isn't one standard AURA ticket price.

The price depends on your experience, time slot, view and seating row. AURA's current starting price is AED 225.

Your pool ticket includes access for the selected time slot, your allocated seating, use of the 360-degree pool, changing facilities and one complimentary towel per person. Food and drinks are charged separately.

Which AURA Skypool experience should you book?

There are currently four main pool experiences, plus a full-day option.

Sunrise: 6am–9am: it's designed around a quieter start to the day, with breakfast available from 7am and beverages from 6am.

Best for: early risers, cooler temperatures and anyone who wants a more peaceful experience.

Morning: 10am–2pm: gives you four hours at AURA and is probably the most straightforward choice if your priority is actually spending time in the pool during daylight.

Best for: swimming, daytime photos and enjoying the views in full daylight.

Afternoon: 3pm–7pm: designed to take you from afternoon into golden hour. You get daylight, the changing light as the afternoon progresses and the opportunity to see Dubai towards sunset.

Best for: sunset, photographs and experiencing AURA at its most atmospheric.

Evening: 8pm–11pm: more about the atmosphere than daytime views, with the illuminated Dubai skyline, music and the pool under the night sky.

Best for: an evening experience, drinks and seeing Dubai lit up at night.

Full Day: 10am–7pm: It currently starts from AED 875 per person, so this is a significant step up in price, but it gives you the opportunity to experience the pool from morning through to sunset.

What is the best time to visit AURA Skypool?

The "best" time really depends on what you want from the experience:

For swimming and daytime photos: book the morning.
For the coolest temperatures: sunrise is the obvious choice, particularly during Dubai's hotter months.
For sunset: book the afternoon slot.
For Dubai at night: choose the evening experience.

My personal take: I visited AURA twice, and both times I chose the sunrise experience. It was fairly quiet, the sunrise views were spectacular and it was such a great start to the day.

Is it worth booking a front-row seat at AURA?

Whether it's worth it depends on how you're planning to use the space.

My personal take: I chose to upgrade to front-row seat on my two visits because to me it’s part of the experience. I really enjoyed the sunrise views as I was on my sunbed, drinking my coffee, with no sunbeds in front of me.

Which view should you book at AURA?

The best two, in my opinion are:

Palm View: This gives you the iconic Palm Jumeirah perspective and is a natural choice if seeing the Palm from above is high on your Dubai bucket list.

And remember: you can still walk and swim around the entire pool after you've been seated.

Can you take photos at AURA Skypool?

Yes. Guests can take personal photos and videos during their visit. There is also a photographer on deck, you can add a photo session to your booking.

What should you wear to AURA Skypool?

For the pool itself, you need to wear appropriate swimwear.

AURA says acceptable swimwear includes one-piece and two-piece swimsuits, speedos, rash guards, board shorts and burkinis. Items such as jeans, sportswear, gym wear, cotton clothing, streetwear and sheer clothing aren't accepted as swimwear.

I'd also bring something easy to throw over your swimwear for getting to and from the pool and around the venue.

If you're planning a visit, these are the things I'd keep in mind before pressing "book":
