I tried Epetōme gut health supplement: unsponsored review

I recently decided to try Epetōme, a gut health supplement that combines prebiotics and probiotics. Here’s everything you need to know about it and my honest, unsponsored review.

About Epetōme

Epetōme is a UK-based gut health brand founded by Emily English, a BSC qualified nutritionist on a mission to help people improve their digestive wellness.

This led her to develop Epetōme, a synbiotic supplement that is both a pre and probiotic, designed to simplify and enhance digestive health support .

What sets Epetōme apart is its innovative Duo Cap® technology. This dual-layer capsule ensures that the 50 billion live probiotic cultures reach the gut alive, bypassing the acidic environment of the stomach.

The outer layer releases prebiotics, Vitamin D, Zinc and Biotin, while the inner core delivers the probiotics directly to the intestines .

Epetōme's formulation includes 11 clinically trialled bacterial strains chosen for their shown benefits in supporting digestive health.

Who is Epetōme for and what are the benefits?

The more we learn about the gut, the more we understand how crucial of a role it plays in our overall health and wellbeing.

Beyond digestion, the gut also supports the immune system, influencing mood, energy levels and even skin health.

When the balance of gut bacteria is disrupted, it can lead to digestive discomfort, bloating and a general feeling of being off.

Epetōme helps restore this balance by delivering beneficial probiotics and essential nutrients in a way they can actually reach the gut.

Epetōme is suitable for anyone experiencing digestive issues like bloating or irregularity, as well as those looking to support their immune system or improve their overall health through gut care:

  • Enhanced digestion: The probiotics and prebiotics work synergistically to support or restore a healthy gut microbiome, for better digestion and nutrient absorption.

  • Immune support: Ingredients like vitamin D and zinc contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system.

  • Convenience: With its once-daily dosage and no refrigeration required, Epetōme fits seamlessly into daily routines.

  • Quality assurance: The product undergoes rigorous testing, including SHIME® (Simulator of Human Intestinal Microbial Ecosystem) testing, to ensure the efficacy of its delivery system.

My honest review

I took Epetōme for a month, as I only bought one jar (30 servings) to start with. I don’t have major gut health issues, but I’m someone who gets bloated quite easily, no matter what I eat. I was curious to find out if this supplement could help with that. I’m also very stressed by nature and I know what this can affect gut balance in ways that you don’t always notice, so I thought a gut supplement could do some good!

At first, I was a bit worried about possible discomfort or side effects during the first few days, since some people can experience minor issues when starting probiotics. Fortunately, I didn’t have any reaction.

The capsule itself is on the larger side, and I usually struggle with big pills, but to my surprise it was actually fairly easy to swallow and I quickly got used to it.

After just a couple of days, I noticed that I was less bloated at the end of the day. It was pleasantly surprising to see results that quickly, though I know everyone’s gut health is different, so your experience might vary.

But based on my experienced and the dozens of glowing reviews, this synbiotic seems to deliver great results. If bloating is a struggle for you too, it may be worth a shot!

Now, will I continue taking it?

While Epetōme seems to work well for me and did a great job at keeping the bloating at bay whilst I was on it, I haven’t bought another jar yet because I’m not sure how well it fits into my long-term routine.

The biggest factor for me is the cost. Around £55 per jar, and even with a 3-month bundle deal, it’s quite an investment.

Another challenge is the timing: the supplement needs to be taken on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. This is tricky since I exercise right after waking up most days and I’d rather have some energy chews or dried fruit before my run or gym session instead of training fasted.

If I take Epetōme first but then eat within 10 minutes, I worry I might not be getting the full benefits, which wouldn’t justify paying this much.

So, overall, I don’t doubt that it’s a great supplement, but I’m still weighing whether I can commit to it long-term.
