Where to eat vegan pancakes in Chester

Woke up in the mood for pancakes? Here are my 3 favourite places to eat delicious vegan pancakes in Chester. Whether you live in Cheshire or are visiting the area, these spots are worth checking out.

Eating vegan pancakes in Chester

Hanky Panky Pancakes

As you can tell by the name, this spot’s specialty is… pancakes. Most of their menu is non-vegan however I was pleasantly surprised to see that they offer more than a couple vegan pancake options.

You can choose between “standard” pancake toppings (lemon & sugar or banana & blueberries) or some fancier, more indulgent options.

Although I was tempted to get the Nut Lover (PB, banana, whipped cream & vanilla ice cream), I decided to try the Applicious pancake: caramelised apple slices, caramel sauce, whipped cream and vanilla ice cream). It was delicious and you cannot tell that the ice cream, whipped cream or even the pancakes are vegan.

My partner went for the Black Forest pancake (choc chips, cherries, amareno cherry ice cream, cherry sauce and whipped cream) and he also loved it.

These were definitely more brunch pancakes than breakfast ones with all the toppings and the ice cream, so I’m glad we went there at noon! The only slight negative was the wait, as they make the vegan pancake mix to order (but they didn’t tell us so we truly wondered if they had forgotten our order).

Jaunty Goats

There are two Jaunty Goats spots in Chester and my favourite is the one located on Northgate Street as their menu is 100% plant-based! Their coffee is delicious, which makes it a great spot for breakfast.

I tried a few different options from their menu and although my favourite has to be the smashed avocado on sourdough, I really liked the pancakes too.

Make sure to be very hungry if you order the pancakes, because this isn’t a small portion. I wasn’t expecting to get two large, fluffy pancakes topped with a bunch of seasonal fruits, yogurt and nut butter. I’d say it’s the perfect place if you want simple and not too sweet, yet delicious pancakes

Flower Cup

Flower Cup is another little gem in Chester town centre and although their menu isn’t fully vegan, they offer more plant-based options than your average coffee shop.

Although the French toast seemed quite tempting, I decided to try their banana & coconut milk pancakes. They did not disappoint at all, and I will certainly order these again in the future.

This dish comes in a stack of 3 medium pancakes with a generous cup of golden syrup. You can also ask for them to be served with blueberries and berry compote.

I’d say that these were my favourite pancakes. It was exactly the right amount of food for an indulgent breakfast and the texture was perfect. Plus, the spot is really cute and full of plants.
