About Fussy
Fussy’s mission? To help reduce the mountain of single-use plastic cluttering our bathrooms, starting with deodorant. The goal was to create a sustainable, refillable deodorant that’s both effective and easy to use.
It all began on Kickstarter in 2020, before they took the idea to Dragon’s Den.What makes Fussy a sustainable company?
Why Switch to Refillable Deodorant?
Traditional deodorants — whether sprays, roll-ons or sticks — typically come in plastic packaging that’s difficult, if not impossible, to recycle. Most end up in landfill or incinerators, contributing to the global plastic crisis.
In contrast, refillable deodorants offer a more eco-conscious alternative:
Massively reduced plastic waste: You only buy the outer case once and simply replace the refills.
Fewer carbon emissions: Many refill brands are made locally, cutting down on transport emissions.
Cleaner ingredients: Most refillable options focus on natural formulas, free from aluminium, parabens and artificial fragrances.
Cost-effective long term: While the initial investment may seem higher, you save over time by only purchasing refills.
Switching to a refillable deodorant is one small lifestyle change that can significantly reduce your environmental impact - without compromising on effectiveness.
How is Fussy Deodorant sustainable?
Fussy goes beyond just offering refills. Their approach to sustainability covers every step of the process.
Plastic-Free Refills
Fussy’s deodorant refills are made from compostable sugarcane material. Once finished you can simply dispose of them in your regular bin and they will naturally break down.
Natural Ingredients
Fussy uses only natural vegan ingredients. They are cruelty-free and include skin-friendly ingredients such as sunflower wax, coconut oil, shea butter and tapioca starch. The deodorants are free from aluminium, parabens and artificial fragrances.
Carbon-Neutral Certification
Fussy is certified carbon neutral through ClimatePartner. This means they offset the carbon emissions from their entire supply chain by supporting environmental projects.
UK Production
All Fussy refills are handmade in the UK which cuts down on transport emissions and supports local jobs.

Is it an antiperspirant?
Fussy is not an antiperspirant. It will not block sweating which is a healthy and natural body function.
What Fussy does is neutralise odour by targeting the bacteria that cause body smells. You stay fresh without blocking your pores.
Is Fussy suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. The original Fussy formula contains only a very small amount of bicarbonate of soda which is usually well tolerated.
For those with very sensitive skin they also offer a bicarbonate-free Sensitive Skin range with even gentler ingredients.

Refill System and case durability
Fussy’s refill system is far simpler to use. The refill clicks in easily without any fiddling. The case feels sturdy and has lasted well.
With Wild I found the refills trickier to insert. I also had to replace my Wild case after less than a year because it broke.
Scent selection and performance
Fussy offers a range of fresh, floral, woody and citrus scents. My favourites are Cloud Nine Fresh and Coconut Milk Tropical which both smell clean and subtle without being overpowering.
Wild tends to release more unusual or novelty scents including some that were not for me such as chocolate. I prefer the more classic options from Fussy.
In terms of performance both last well throughout the day. However Wild sometimes leaves white marks on clothing and can get soft or messy in warm weather.
I have not had this problem with Fussy which remains consistent and easy to apply.
Price and value
Both brands are similarly priced. From my experience, Fussy feels like better value because of the easier refill system and longer-lasting case.
To conclude, Fussy is the easiest, most effective refillable deodorant I have used. It is sustainable, smells great and works without causing white marks or skin irritation.
It is a simple and worthwhile swap if you are looking for a more eco-friendly option. Plus it is kinder to your skin and the planet.
